Upon coming here on a Sunday at about 10:30am expecting this restaurant to be super busy, me and my friend Lisa found ourselves to be the only customers in the restaurant. Great, food will be prepared faster, and we'll have more attention. The menu is quite large; it's a Taiwanese restaurant with a variety of authentic dishes. They also have a bar on the side of the restaurant, in which we just decided to order papaya milk tea.
I ordered the "Beef Tendon Noodle Soup," which you have the options to pick it with regular thin or flat noodles. I chose the flat noodles because I always find myself liking them better. The noodle soup was a very generous portion. (Price was 7.95) The broth of the soup was quite flavorful, filled with many little ingredients to add to the taste.
Next, I ordered the "Spicy Wontons." If you never had spicy wontons, you should try some..right now! The hot chili sauce is amazing. This one comes in a small bowl with about 8 of them. Although this one here tastes quite like...nothing. The most important thing is the sauce and I just couldn't taste the spices in my mouth. Plus, the wonton meat tastes a little off to me. If you plan on trying spicy wontons, take yourself on a trip to White Bear( 135-02 Roosevelt Ave, Flushing, NY 11354) because their spicy wontons are simply, in my opinion, the best.
We also ordered "Scallion Pancakes." I am going to admit that its probably the best scallion pancakes I've seen by far. But how does it compare, you might ask. Well, it was pretty decent. Chewy. Of course, remember to eat it before it gets cold, otherwise it will get hard. Also, it's definitely an appetizer for more than 2 people! Very filling.
Overall. I'm giving it 3 stars because I didn't feel anything special about their food. The wontons tastes really plain to me, and the noodle soup taste a little too salty for me. Most of the food on the menu also seems overprice to me. Although, I would definitely come back again in the future and try some of their other foods in their menu. The waiter also was quite attentive, but well you would expect so..we were the only ones there after all.
